Special Church Day, Part Two. The Old Account Was Settled Long Ago

Bro. Frank is doing a wonderful job as song leader. You can tell he really enjoys doing it.  As a church family we can cry together & share our up and downs. We can also laugh  *with* each other when thing's don't go as planned. :)  . Or in this case when, not everyone, is on the same page. That's what makes our church family so special

Special Church Day-Part One

Yesterday was a special church day. It was a day filled with the three important "F's" of a church that loves each other-FUN, FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP! Church started at the normal time with the ladies singing thier first special. Then we had lunch and fellowship and a very early evening service, followed by more fellowship. We also had home made ice cream.  It was a wonderful day. Tomorrow, I will post pictures. The men's choir sang a song and to quote Bro Frank, it was a  real 'treat'. You will smile.

Ladies Meeting

Last Saturday we enjoyed a work day/ladies fellowship and craft. Along with changing and updating our missions boards, we worked on invitations to pass out at our local nursing home. Please be in prayer that we can reach more of the residents at the nursing home. It is our prayer that more will come to the service.

Next for "Events at a Glance": Thursday service at 7:00. Wednesday, July 27th at 7:00. The next meeting for the Lord's Army.

Donations are still need for the "Shelf". Also, if you have coupons that you won't be using, we can use them. You can give them directly to Mrs. Mollohan or Mrs. Randall, or Mrs. McKinley. Those can and will be used to stock the Shelf.

Church Picnic-2011

We had a wonderful (annual) church picnic on July 4th. The weather was great. The kids and a few brave adults went on a very long uphill hike to the top of the mountain. Except for a few tense moments when we thought we had lost 3 hikers, everything went well.

Prayer Letter From The Hammett's

Dear Brethren and Prayer Partners,

We are grateful for your prayers for us in these last couple of weeks.  We have seen the hand of the Lord at work in some special ways in the villages that we are working in.  We praise the Lord for open doors at Sofaya village, where a few weeks ago we witnessed the conversion of Festah, a key lady there, and recently we learned of the conversion of her son Richwell (19).  Richwell has been under conviction for several weeks, and this past week, he finally bowed the knee and confessed his sin, and called on the Lord to save him.  His mother, Festah, has made many spiritually discerned remarks over the past few weeks, and we do believe to see in her the marks of a new spirit!  These are refreshing tidings to us, in the midst of such a dark and spiritually barren place.

The spiritual opposition has also been very manifest.  I don’t share this example to sound super-spiritual or superstitious, but rather just to bring clarity to your prayers.  Sometimes the spiritual battles are more obvious than other times, but the truth is that we are always in the midst of spiritual warfare.  This past Sunday morning there was a very evidently demon-afflicted lady at the study in Relela village.  As we sang a song about Jesus Christ and His power to save, she began to shriek in a very inhumane voice, and appeared to be torn with an evil spirit beyond her control.  We continued on, and were able to deliver a very simple, yet powerful illustration of the Gospel, with the story of Abraham offering Isaac.  Many of those who were present were very sober about their need for saving faith, like Abraham had.

We covet your prayers for the folks at Relela, especially those under conviction, to be drawn to Christ.  We have seen some conversions at Sofaya, and desire to see some others begin to assemble with the group there and learn the Gospel.  Your prayers are much more crucial than you can probably even fully understand.  We truly sense a great satanic opposition to the work here, and we desire to go forward only in the strength and power of the Lord!  Thanks for taking the time to intercede on behalf of the ministry here!

Yours For African Souls,

Bro. George Hammett
Missionary to Africa

Church Picnic

I hope everyone is looking forward to our annual picnic on July 4th! Please bring a main dish and a side dish or dessert to share. Please let Mrs. Randall know what your side dish and or dessert will be. She is trying to coordinate the food. Bro Frank is our hiking leader. Bring enough water if you plan to go on the hike. Also if you have board games or other games, bring those along too. We are all looking forward to a fun time of fellowship. Thank you.

Plan of Salvation

The most important matter that one will ever consider is the question of their relationship to God and their eternal destiny. Man has an immortal soul that will exist forever in one of two places -- either in heaven or in hell.THE BIBLE PROMISES THAT WE CAN KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT WE ARE GOING TO HEAVEN.In 1 John 5:13 the Bible says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” God wants us to have the assurance that we belong to Him, that we are saved, and that heaven will one day be our home. But how can we know? What does the Bible say?WE MUST REALIZE THAT WE ARE SINNERS AND THEREFORE SPIRITUALLY LOST.Consider these verses of Scripture. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) The thing that makes us spiritually lost, and thus separated from God is our sin. (Isaiah 59:2) "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." Yes, everyone including you has sinned. "There is none righteous, no, not one." (Romans 3:10)Not only is every human a sinner by nature, we are also incapable of saving ourselves. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us." (Titus 3:5) No matter how hard we try to do good, we are still sinners. Before a person can be saved, they must first be faced with the thing that separates us from Holy God. It is our sin. We are guilty before God and He requires us to repent to Him of our pride and disobedience. We have all broken God’s perfect law and thus are undeserving of entrance into His holy heaven. Sin is not a minor thing to God, it is a major thing and must be addressed honestly and humbly. Jesus said “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3) The Bible says in Acts 17:30, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:.” The way of salvation is, “…repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 20:21) Are you willing to turn to God in repentance and ask for His mercy in salvation?JESUS, THROUGH HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS AND RESURRECTION, HAS PROVIDED FOR OUR SALVATION."For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) Jesus Christ paid the entire price on the cross for our sins. (1 Peter 2:24) "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." God set the price on sin, which was a perfect sacrifice; and then God Himself gave His own Son to pay the price.WE MUST, IN REPENTANCE AND FAITH, RECEIVE GOD'S GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE." . . .the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) God offers you freely His gift of eternal life. This gift is yours to receive, by placing your trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. This is a personal decision and also an urgent decision. "Behold, now is the day of salvation." (II Corinthians 6:2) It is foolish to procrastinate about such an important decision. The Bible promises, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13) Whosoever means you. We must repent to God of our sinfulness and by faith trust completely in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our salvation. Nothing else will do. . . not church membership, not baptism, not confirmation, not communion. None of these things can save us from sin; only Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)RIGHT NOW, RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE, YOU CAN HUMBLY CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD, TRUSTING IN HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS FOR YOUR SALVATION. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO SO BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
